Welcome to this faith blog! I am so glad you are here and reading this today. It is my prayer that whatever you find here is helpful and boosts your faith, encouraging you to spread the joy that is Jesus Christ.
When I first became a Christian I didn’t realize how many people proclaimed Christianity as their faith and yet didn’t actively participate in Christ-like living outside of Sunday mornings. It was eye-opening. I was already in my 30’s when I was saved and I’d lived almost my entire life in the Bible belt. The hypocrisy was more than disappointing. Obviously, none of us are expecting Christians to be perfect. What I was seeing and hearing are things that any mature secular person would look down on though and that’s a big problem.
This blog is here to keep us all on track. We are imagers of Christ and we should care about that image. We may make mistakes, but we will learn from them, apologize for them and move on. Let your nature be expressive of Christ’s nature. Seek His wisdom because your human wisdom will never measure up to Divine wisdom. Whatever you read or hear, compare it with what the Bible says. The Bible is the ultimate source. Nothing is better.
In the first chapter of Romans Paul tells us he is bringing about the obedience of faith among all nations, including you who are called to belong to Jesus Christ.
What does obedience of faith mean to you? What do others learn about Christianity through your obedience to faith?
Ephesians 2:8 says “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God.” ESV
Now, works-based gospel is not something I agree with nor will I ever teach. The Bible is quite clear that when you are filled with the Holy Spirit you become a new creation, transformed for Christ. You won’t be able to continue living in sin. You’ll feel the weight of guilt when you sin. The Holy Spirit dwelling within you will overcome you to do God’s will and make waves for Christ. James is a great book for teaching on this subject further. What kept me from remotely considering Christianity as even a possibility when I was younger was the clear disobedience of Christians to their own faith. How did they not feel guilt or shame? Adultery, greed, gluttony, sloth, hatefulness, demeaning words and actions. The list could go on and on. Non-Christians watch Christians. Non-Christians know what the Bible says. They will see you and watch your words and actions.
Let your love of God show through obedience and it will be an evangelistic invitation to know God and join the family. Let’s make heaven crowded!
We are saved by grace through faith. That message should be one we can’t wait to share.
